Launch of “The Second Freedom: South Asian Challenge 2005-2025”

SFG’s latest report, “The Second Freedom: South Asian Challenge 2005-2025” was launched on July 20, 2005 in Mumbai. Several prominent experts participated in the panel discussion including: Mr. N.N. Vohra (Special Envoy of the Indian Government), Ms. Kiran Bedi (Magsaysay Awardee), Prof. Bibek Debroy (Director of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute), Mr. Kumar Ketkar (Editor of Loksatta, India), Mr. Ashutosh Gowarikar (eminent Filmmaker), Ms. Fauzia Shaheen (Editor of Dastak magazine, Pakistan) and Ms. Katherine Masche (Social scientist with FNS, Germany). On this occasion, SFG felicitated Mr. Hubertus von Welck, regional director of FNS, Asia.

Semu Bhatt attended a seminar on “International Terrorism and International Security” organised by the International Academy for Leadership of Friedrich Naumann Stiftung in Gummersbach, Germany from August 28-September 4, 2005. Participants of the seminar included leadership personnel from politics, administration, research and private sector. The seminar focussed on issues such as definition of terrorism, root causes of terrorism, institutions involved in counter terrorism measures, and their weaknesses and strengths.
