Ekta is currently working on a project which identifies socio-economic and
environmental issues of relevance in the Middle East and North Africa
region. She is also a team member of the project 'Application of Blue Peace
Approach to the Nile Basin'. Her role includes preparing and writing
research reports.
Ekta is a trained mediator and has actively volunteered with community
mediation and youth participation projects. She has worked closely with
Somali refugees, immigrants and youth-at-risk at an NGO in Toronto. Prior to
joining SFG, Ekta interned as a Probation Officer at Auckland, New Zealand's
North Shore District Court Corrections Department. She has previously worked
as a Copy Editor cum Correspondent at Times of India, Ahmedabad.
Ekta earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Work (Applied) from Massey
University, New Zealand. She received her Bachelor of Arts Honors,
Philosophy Major and English Minor from York University, Canada.
