Introduction

Strategic Foresight Group was established in 2002 to create new forms of intellectual capital. In less than a decade, we have created intellectual and political assets to draw input from all continents and deliver output to decision makers anywhere in the world.

We have advised governments around the world and produced scenarios and innovative policy concepts that have been discussed in august bodies including the United Nations, Alliance of Civilizations, Indian Parliament, the European Parliament, UK House of Commons, UK House of Lords, World Bank, the League of Arab States, World Economic Forum (Davos), and others. Our research findings and views have been covered by around 1000-1200 newspapers, periodicals and internet sources from 70-80 countries in all continents of the world. These include BBC World Television, CNN, International Herald Tribune, Financial Times, New York Times, The Guardian, Forbes, Newsweek, and almost all major newspapers in South Asia, South East Asia and the Middle East.

SFG addresses critical global challenges - in particular trans-boundary water resources, implications of new technologies for global security, terrorism, economic disparities and protracted conflicts. Strategic Foresight Group undertakes forward-looking research in geopolitical, economic, technological and societal changes. We are known for crafting new policy concepts such as Cost of Conflict (the most comprehensive approach in the world to measure multiple costs of specific conflicts), Blue Peace (a new concept to convert water scarcity into opportunity for cooperation), Business-Bike-Bullock Cart Economy (a new category to analyse disparities in emerging economies). Our research examines future trends and discontinuities in spaces where geopolitics intersects with economy, society, religion and technology. In addition to specific client-driven research projects, SFG also publishes public reports.

SFG launches initiatives for dialogue and policy change to address specific challenges. The initiatives are backed by innovative research and engage senior level policy makers who are most relevant to bring about a change. These may include cabinet ministers, members of legislature, advisers to Heads of Government, leaders of multilateral organisations, and leaders of business groups. SFG also engages in direct consultation with Heads of Government. Some of the government leaders who have addressed SFG meetings or invited SFG leadership for consultations include, for example, President of India, President of Switzerland, President and Prime Minister of Turkey, President of Israel, Prime Minister of Canada, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, EU High Representative, Secretary General of the Arab League, Director General of the United Nations, senior members of Royal Families of Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Cabinet Ministers of a large number of countries.
