Research
SFG undertakes long-term research contracts on scenarios and future options for countries, regions and sectors. It delivers its output in the form of
- confidential or public reports, policy briefs, electronic updates
- personal briefings at the board or committee level.
Its research is most relevant for
- Governments and corporations that want to engage with a new country, region, or sector and want an insight into the long-term prospects for a given geography.
- Governments, political parties, security management organisations that want to explore new long term risks and opportunities for their own societies.
Initiatives
SFG was launched by International Centre for Peace Initiatives, a pioneering conflict resolution institution in South Asia. Both, ICPI and SFG in their early period were engaged in peace building initiatives in the South Asian region, including shuttle diplomacy to deescalate tension, preparation of a roadmap for peace, and confidence building measures.
Currently, SGF is concentrating on a Sustainable Global Security Initiative, in order to seek global policy change for constructing peace and deconstructing terror. It is aimed at senior government leaders and their advisers from Western and Islamic countries. Under its auspices, three high level roundtables have been held and a fourth one, scheduled for the last quarter of 2008, is under planning. The initiatives also involves direct consultations with Heads of Government, Foreign Ministers, Opposition Leaders and other stakeholders concerned with the Western-Islamic relations.
SFG has launched a Cost of Conflict series to engage parties in a joint exploration of the consequences of their hostility.
SFG has also launched an initiative to explore Benefits of Peace, particularly for the business sector. It involves forming a network of business leaders across the world who are committed to peace and sustainability.
